Innovating eco-friendly ways to destroy biological and chemical contaminants for improving the living environment
SurfPlasma was founded by Professor Dr. Subrata Roy in 2009. Since its inception, our company has focused on transforming years of plasma research experience from the laboratory into the commercial market. We started in the UF Innovation District. In 2015, we moved to our new office in downtown Gainesville. Since then we have utilized our company's expertise, guided by Roy at the helm, to help bring the benefits of plasma technology to the world.
SurfPlasma is a florida incorporated company innovating eco-friendly ways to destroy biological and chemical contaminants for improving the quality of water we drink, air we breathe, food we eat, clothing we wear and surfaces we touch. With portable, lightweight devices that destroy biological and chemical contaminants, our plasma clean technology is eco-friendly with power demands comparable to a light bulb.
Recognized as an international leader in plasma research, Dr. Subrata Roy is an inventor of 36 patented plasma technologies. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Engineers (NAI), Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), and American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Distinguished Visiting Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
Justin Kosky earned his Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Florida. He leverages his modeling experience and mechanical engineering background to help bring core plasma technologies from model designs to prototype testing for finished products. He manages sterilization product development.
Dr. Vladimir Vichnyakov has over 30 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for various products and applications. He assists in formulation and design for electronic product development - including electronic circuits, PCB layout, control strategy and optimization paths - for SurfPlasma projects.
Mr. Garrison Osborne is a Master's of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida (BS from Michigan State U) with a background in systems-level fluid design. His expertise provides new and innovative uses of plasma and nonequilibrium systems for flight-ready and commercial hardware.
Bella Grezik earned her Bachelor's degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation from the University of Florida in 2017 and has seven years of experience as a biological scientist in environmental consulting and research laboratories. Her background in project management, marketing, and business development and has expertise is in biological and water science.
Sarthak Roy is a college student with experience in electronics and product prototyping. He is proficient in multiple programming languages and is trained in Arduino coding. He is working on the design, assembly, and testing of core electrical systems.
